Oh, how far we’ve come. Here’s a little photo for the day. I know I’m a day late in posting this, but trust me, I don’t think Geneva will notice. At her doctor’s appointment today she weighed in at 19 lbs. 4 oz. It’s all those sweet potatoes. I know it. If you look closely at her photo, you can see a band-aid on each leg. They got her with two shots today. There was a tiny whimper and then all was well.

Geneva is now squealing. I was sitting with her on the back deck just now and the dogs came running up the stairs. Geneva already thinks the dogs are pretty funny, but something about them today made her really laugh. And then the laughs turned to squeals. She paused for a second and then really started squealing – like, “Look, mom! Can you hear this?”
This is going to go down really well in public places…especially on that plane ride we’re taking Saturday!

Quick note: Yesterday, Geneva taught herself to blow raspberries. They are getting progressively more sloppy. They started as tiny sputtering noises and have grown into full on slobber noises. Very cute – except for when you’re feeding her sweet potatoes. Then it’s not so cute; it’s just messy.

Hapeville is having a festival this weekend and we went to check it out. Geneva got some sun on her toes and we enjoyed the sights.

Not too much to report today. All of the excitement from the last two weeks makes the last couple days seem humdrum in comparison. Geneva tried some sweet potatoes last night and LOVED them. I think they weren’t as sticky as the prunes and she gobbled them up. I’m considering adding another “meal” for her and will consult with the pediatrician next week. Food at this age is supposed to be all about fun and not so much about nutrition. She still nurses just as much as before. I think we’ll try some oatmeal cereal next and then avocados.
Yesterday, we met up with some ladies who attended the Hypnobirthing classes with us. The two both had daughters who were younger than Geneva. Bella was 4.5 months old and Ana was 3 months old. It was crazy to see the different children at the different developmental stages. Also crazy was the difference in temperaments. Bella was teething and was not in the best of spirits. Ana was smiling and fussing – regular baby stuff. And then there’s Geneva…
Ana and Bella both began to cry at the same time and I don’t think Geneva even registered it. She briefly looked at me as if to say, “Mother, what’s that racket?” and then turned back to chomping on her toy. The other moms marveled over how ‘chill’ Lil G is and I almost felt embarassed – like she should be putting up a fuss or something.
Geneva’s also not as wiggly as the two other girls. I confess I was a little jealous of that wiggliness. But as we all know, all kids are different and the wigglies will come eventually. Geneva is a special girl that’s making her own way in the world. At this rate, it wouldn’t surprise me if she walks before she crawls.

Must have been the prunes.

Today we went to Piedmont Park for the Atlanta Arts Festival. Geneva had lots of fun. She smiled at strangers and won some hearts. We decided to try for a little photo shoot before we departed. Geneva kept falling backward into the grass and laughed and laughed. A family passing by stopped and laughed with us. As you can imagine, it was insanely cute. And then camera’s battery ran out!!! Booooooo.
Incidentally, we do have a second tooth coming in. I confirmed this today. So Geneva will have her two bottom middle teeth in around the same time. What an over-achiever.

And last, but not least, our favorite shot…

Geneva’s bottom gum line looks red and angry. I think toofy #2 may be making an appearance soon. Lil’ G will sure have a mean looking mug with those two bottom teeth. As a consequence, breastfeeding is about to get real exciting. Ha ha.
And believe me, I have tried tried tried to get a photo of the tooth, but all I’ve ended up with are a bunch of blurry shots of Geneva’s open mouth and a nearly-blinded child from the flash.
